Ending Affirmative Action
Yesterday morning I listened to state senator Howard Stephenson interview Ward Connerly on Red Meat Radio (station KTKK, am 630, on Saturday mornings from 8-10 a.m.). Connerly has been traveling the country for years advocating fair and equal opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, sex, or ethnic background. He was in Utah speaking in support of a resolution being discussed in the state legislature that would put an end to racial and gender preferences, so called "Affirmative Action." His arguments were quite compelling. He said something that I have believed for a long time; that the case for racial preferences implies that members of minority groups are unable to be successful on their own. To me, this is very insulting to these groups. I'm supportive of this resolution.
